The conference will be held in the year of 300th anniversary of St.-Petersburg
and 75th anniversary from the date when the Institute of the Himalayan
researches "Urusvati" began its activities. The family of
Roerichs, the natives of St. Petersburg, established this Institute
on north of India. This family brought in the outstanding contribution
to preservation of world cultural property and search of new creative
ways, spiritual rapprochement of West and East, growth of self-consciousness
and uniting of people in the world.
The main topics of the conference:
- study of the heritage of the family of Roerich, their east searches
in the light of traditional Russian and Petersburg spiritual and scientific
quest
- use of Roerich's ideas about preservation of culture in globalization
- determination of priority directions and practical steps on preservation
and study of the heritage of Nicholas Roerich and his family in St.-Petersburg
- study and use of experience of work of the Institute of the Himalayan
researches "Urusvati" as well as other scientific and cultural
establishments, organized worldwide by the representatives of the
family of Roerich
- the comparative analysis of normative, social and family-individual
ethics of modern civilizations of East and West
- generalization of experience of ethical councils and similar structures
as elements of a civil society
- presentation of problems and achievements in restoration of the
spiritual and cultural historical traditions in Petersburg in the
year of celebrating 300th anniversary of St.-Petersburg.
Within the framework of development of the Roerichs' approaches the
organizers of the conference plan to hold sections and round tables
on the following basic directions:
- place and role of the Russian science in uniting East and West
- the Roerichs' Family Museum & Institute and experience of work
of the Institute of the Himalayan researches "Urusvati"
- status of a family itself in traditions of East and West
- preservation of cultural and natural property and ethical councils.

The grand meeting in memory of 75th anniversary of the Institute of
the Himalayan researches "Urusvati" will take place October
10.
